our history

Solutions for Environmental and Worker Health Justice (Solutions) is a progressive organization that translates and amplifies occupational and environmental health policy research to support labor and environmental justice activists and advocates in their work drive for health-protective policy solutions. Solutions builds on a the legacy of of peer-reviewed research, begun by in January 1990 by Charles “Chuck” Levenstein, a professor of Work Environmental Policy at University of Massachusetts Lowell,  and Tony Mazzocchi of the Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers Union. Chuck and Tony aspired to represent the voices of academic researchers and professionals in the field as well as boots-on-the-ground workers and community activists.
